John may actually be my favorite Apostle. Well, okay, maybe it is Paul, or John, or Matthew or Luke, or James, or Peter, or Jude, or maybe I should quit while I am ahead.
I know we are not supposed to have any kind of favorites. But it becomes really difficult sometimes not to seem to have a favorite. Don’t you think?
I mean I love them all and enjoy reading all of them. But since we read a lot from Paul it could be hard not to like him more, right?
Out of the 27 books in the New Testament 21 I think are called Epistles. Today we would call them letters. I know these are just the ones that received apostolic approval. But still, they are letters that the Apostles wrote during their lives.
Just think for a minute, have you ever written a letter that would be considered that important? That is pretty cool to me at least, how about you?
If that does not get you thinking how about the fact that these men were persecuted for their faith in Jesus. They did most of their work under extreme conditions. And you thought our world was falling apart (I sure do!). Their world was trying to beat them or kill them. At least we have not gotten to that point yet…
But hay there is still time for them to really mess things up. So ya, there is still time…
I just keep thinking well at least when they are done messing things up, that Jesus will return and all will be good in the world. YAY!
I really hope I did not bum you out too much.
Have a great day and study John, you will enjoy it, I know I do every time.
Did Jesus return to teach John privately after he had returned to heaven? Yes, and wait until you learn what he taught, it will amaze you!
